I can't believe its been so long!

I'm ashamed that I've taken such a long hiatus fom blogging...I had my reasons though!  I found that I was putting too much time into the computer and felt a distance from my family.  I've spent the last several months figuring out a balance between my family, my teaching job, my photography and time for me!  It was an easy transition because my family will always come first - but I think I've figured some things out!  I'm happier, healthier and am ready to start blogging again!

Neurofibromatosis

During the Westbrook Together Days parade I had the opportunity to photograph a float that contained some very special people!  My mom, Lois and her friend Emily are running a marathon to help raise money for The Children's Tumor Foundation (http://www.ctf.org/).  Natalie was one of the participants on the float.  Natalie has Neurofibromatosis - to read more about NF please visit the Children's Tumor Foundation site.  Here are some of my favorite photos from the parade (click on any of the photos to see them larger):

This is a test!

I subscribed to my own blog!  I used that little "enter your email address" to the left.  SO, now I am just testing to see it if I get a notification that it works.  These little things are just so fun!! :D

So, maybe I'll add a picture so this post isn't too boring!  Is anyone else tired of all the snow we have been getting?  I was thinking earlier that I can't remember a winter when I haven't seen the ground for a stretch as long as this.  We usually get a snowfall in December and it melts.  Not this year!  Its beautiful for sure....but spring fever is really kicking in over here!

Wedding at Laudholm Farm, Wells Maine

I just love this location - it was rustic and elegent at the same time.  John and Lauren were such a great couple to photograph.  Their reception was such fun!!

It was beautiful and sunny before the wedding but as we got to the reception it started getting windy and we had just a short time before it started raining...Lauren's veil kept flying all crazy!

Baby Portrait Session

This little beauty has such an expressive face!  I loved the colors in her room - it was all pink and green - so girly!

 

Cousins

This is my neice Ava.  She is the same age as my daughter, Chloe.  In fact, she is 4 days younger than Chloe.  My sister in law and I were 4 days apart in our pregnancies.  I went 3 weeks early so I supposed Chloe would be nearly a month old before Ava arrived.  Well, wouldn't you know it - my sister in law went into the hospital the day after Chloe and I went home so the ended up being 4 days apart still!  I think Chloe loves having a cousin her own age!  I have been doing her photos since she was 1.  We do a Christmas card shoot every year as well.  Here are the most recent pictures of Ava....

Fall in Maine!

I think that fall has to be one of my favorite seasons!  We had a pretty dry summer and fall so far and I was worried that the fall foliage wouldn't be bright and vibrant this year.  I am so glad, though, that foliage season is just as beautiful as ever!  I was leaving Scarborough beach from a family session tonight and happened to see the foliage reflecting in the water.  I HAD to stop and get a quick snapshot of it for my friend in Baton Rouge who doesn't get much of a fall!  Here is one for you, Kelly!

Urban Senior

I spent a couple of hours with Casey and her aunt out in Portland's Oldport.  Doing sessions in the Oldport is so fun because we just wander around and find "locations" as we happen across them.  What was really neat about this session is that back when I was a camp counselor Casey was one of my campers - as I think a first grader!  When she emailed for pictures I recognized her name right away!
